CSR > Message from the ChairmanCSR > Message from the ChairmanThis is the seventh year since we initiated the compilation of our CSR Reports. The social responsibility of an enterprise is to make the society a better one and to create a sustainable operational mode for the enterprise. In order to implement our corporate social responsibility, we have combined the promotion of CSR with the action plans based on the operational concepts of “integrity, respect, and sustainability” since the publication of our first CSR Report. The issues that involve the stakeholders are also included in the CSR policies and reported to them in the form of a CSR report. It is compiled in accordance with the international trend of green economy which stresses environmental friendliness from raw materials to finished products.
2014 was a year the economy gradually recovered. At CHC, we continued to focus on stabilizing our market share, reduce costs, and expand our core businesses. Our strategic goals were to promote our operational performance and establish our long-term competitive advantage. Our overall performance in 2014 was steady. With the efforts of all employees, we created N.T.$4.2 earnings per share after tax, which were good investment returns for CHC shareholders in terms of our operational results and served as a basis for CHC to reciprocate to the society.
We have followed the GRI G4 guidelines in compiling our CSR Reports since 2013 and have disclosed all issues, in particular, those with more social concerns and more impact on the enterprise, from the points of view of stakeholders. In addition to the regular annual publication of the CSR Report, information is updated and elaborated on the CHC website. New issues are being collected and updated through questionnaires on the web in terms of the interaction between CHC and viewers.
We have put in resources in adopting the Environment Education Section in the Kaohsiung Public Library, Siaogang Branch over the years. Furthermore, we collaborated with the Kaohsiung iPlant For Life Association in planning seedling cultivation, tree planting, caring for trees, and loving trees. Twelve forestry lectures were held to encourage the residents of the communities, students, and CHC employees to take part in ecological conservation. It was hoped that a good foundation could be established for environmental educators by the promotion of basic environmental education.
In comparison with cement, CHC’s GBFS powder has made contributions to the reduction of greenhouse gases. With the promotion of all of our businesses, we have not only created good economic results but also reduced the burden on the environment. In response to the global trend for the sustainable development of the construction industry and engineering, we will continue to cooperate with the government in the promotion of green architecture and green construction in the future. With environmental protection as the focus, we will be devoted to the development of the green industry, pay attention to the rights of our stakeholders, namely, our customers, shareholders, and employees, fulfill our corporate social responsibility, innovate the value of resource recycling, and seek sustainability of resources so that CHC can become an excellent enterprise in the green industry.
