While producing molten steel, basic oxygen furnace slag becomes a by-product of BOF steelmaking in CSC and DSC, both of which are wholly integrated steel mills. After basic oxygen furnace slag is cooled, it is then processed by CHC to become BOFS graded aggregates, which are nationally certified environmentally friendly products and can be applied to make makeshift pavements, materials for land leveling, soil improvement, and land reclamation, fillings for cofferdam projects, sanitation landfills, soil covering materials, etc. BOFS graded aggregates are widely utilized in the U.S.A., European Union, and Japan.
